This is such a stunning piece of jewellery, the anoiting spoon is one of the oldest objects used in the coronation ceremony. At the anointing ceremony holy oil is poured from the ampulla into the spoon. The bishop or Archbishop places some of the oil on the new Sovereign's head, breast and palms. This is a sterling silver - slighlty gilt, replica spoon with a brown cord and sterling silver fastener. The detail of the spoon is simply beautiful and looks gorgeous when worn.
